Victim's family members claim accused was molesting her; allege apathy on part of police

When you imagine life in a call centre, strutted by numerous movies and TV serials on the subject, this is not what comes to mind. A 25-year-old BPO employee, who went to get her relieving letter, was allegedly kidnapped by a colleague. The accused allegedly used to molest her regularly in office because of which she was forced to resign.

Where is she? Monika a resident of Nangloi, worked with a Gurgaon-based call centre.

Barun Singh, the accused, has also gone missing since the day of the incident. The victim's parents have got a case registered with Nangloi police. But the family claims cops are yet to take action though they have received two threat calls.

Monika, a resident of Nangloi, used to work with a Gurgaon-based call centre. Her father Devender Dutt Semwal said that Barun, who worked with her, used to manhandle her due to which she was depressed and decided to quit.

"On November 2 she was called by her administration head to collect the relieving latter. Next day she went to her office and disappeared after that. She did not return till late in the night. We had been calling her on her cell phone number but each time found her mobile switched off.

We then decided to approach the cops and got a case registered with Nangloi police," said Devender. On November 4 Nangloi police filed a case of Monika being missing. Devender Dutt contacted her office and spoke to her administration head Sanjay Bakshi and a few others but they allegedly refused to help him in any way.

Perplexed by their behaviour, Devender called up Gurgaon police, asking them to intervene. He was then told by the HR department of the BPO that Barun Singh had been harassing the victim.

Sanjay Bakshi made a call on Barun Singh's cell phone but it was found to be switched off. Devender was told that Barun lived in Delhi and is a native of Jharkhand. The Gurgaon cops did not lodge any case as it was already registered in Delhi.

Rescue Act

A teenage boy who was allegedly kidnapped and taken to Jharkhand was rescued on Tuesday by a district police team which also nabbed the abductor, a senior official said.
Thirteen-year-old Ishu Dhama was allegedly kidnapped about 15 days ago by Rajeev Ram, who had earlier worked as a driver in his house in Ghaziabad.
Ram allegedly took the boy to his native village, Lesli Ganj in Palamu district in Jharkhand and demanded Rs. 5 lakh as ransom from the Dhama family.
Ishu's father suspected Ram to be behind the kidnapping and informed police, which traced the boy.
Ram was arrested from the spot, police said, adding efforts were on to nab another accomplice.
