NRI patient gets pain relief from cancer painkillers
On Tuesday, Dr K Baheti, Dr Manoj Deshmukh and Dr Satish Kulkarni at Lilavati Hospital used the Coeliac Plexus Block procedure, usually used for patients with cancer of abdominal organs, to relieve Ami Shah-Hackman from pain caused by bowel obstructions. A numbing agent is given to a bundle of nerves that control sensation to all organs in the abdomen. "It gave her instant relief. It's a day-care procedure that doesn't require admission and will restore some dignity of life," said Baheti.
