After the accident on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, which killed five people on Monday near Kamshet, officials from the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) are seeking a live demonstration of the CCTV cameras that will be installed on the entire stretch. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/jan/car_4.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 327px;" /> Crash: Five people died on the expressway on Monday after a Swift Dzire went out of control and collided into another car near Kamshet. Confirming the same, an MSRDC official said, &ldquo;The company that is going to install cameras on the Mumbai-Pune expressway between Panvel and Pune has already given us a presentation. However, in order to check the effectiveness of the cameras &mdash; which will allow traffic authorities to capture the images of the person driving the vehicle along with the number plate of the vehicle &mdash; the company will give us a live demonstration on February 10 after which we will decide whether or not to install the cameras.&rdquo; The decision to first install CCTV cameras along the stretch was taken in December following the demise of two Marathi actors at the same spot where Monday&rsquo;s accident took place. The company had in fact, shown its first presentation to MSRDC officials last week. An official said, &ldquo;We were not too happy with the first presentation and so we asked the company to give us another one yesterday.&rdquo; He added, &ldquo;Following yesterday&rsquo;s presentation, in order for us to check the efficiency of the cameras, we have asked the company to give us a live demonstration. Our main aim of installing the cameras is to see which vehicles are speeding while driving on the expressway.
