Centre refutes Elon Musk’s Starlink allegations, says all satellite operators face the same rules

The Ministry of Communications said all telecom operators providing satellite communication services are required to meet the same licensing and security conditions before they can proceed to the spectrum assignment stage

The Centre on Thursday rejected SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk’s allegation that Starlink was being blocked in India by “certain oligarchs”, calling the claim “baseless and misconceived” and asserting that the country’s regulatory framework for satellite communication services is fair and non-discriminatory.

The Ministry of Communications said all telecom operators providing satellite communication services are required to meet the same licensing and security conditions before they can proceed to the spectrum assignment stage.
