Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan yesterday said the Right to Information Act (RTI) was a milestone in the history of Indian democracy and had helped root out several irregularities in government functioning. "We should enact more laws and directions which will improve government functioning and improve implementation of developmental projects. Schemes like the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) have given livelihood to lakhs of rural Indians and such laws will only double their success," he said.
