To ensure that the Project-Affected People (PAPs) have ampleu00a0job opportunities once the construction work of the Navi Mumbai international airport commences, the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharshtra (CIDCO) has decided to train 7,000 youths under the Employability Vocational Package. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/nov/navi-mumbai-airport.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 339px;" /> Awaiting takeoff: Site for the upcoming international airport in Navi Mumbai. File Pic Those within the age group of 18 to 35 years would be its beneficiaries. CIDCO would be conducting an aptitude test to shortlist deserving candidates. Once selected, these PAPs would be counselled to choose a career on the basis of the test given. Officials from the development body have roped in Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Chanakya Institute and a Bengaluru-based firm to groom the shortlisted candidates. &lsquo;For a better future&rsquo; Commenting on the initiative, CIDCO Managing Director Sanjay Bhatia said, &ldquo;This educational project has been specially designed for the project-affected youths, considering long-term growth of the PAPs. We have been praised by the Chief Minister for initiating this project.&rdquo; As per the latest consensus reached between the development body and PAPs, the CIDCO would now be giving 32 per cent of the developed land and 50 per cent of the jobs, at the time of construction of the airport, to PAPs. &ldquo;Employment for PAPs will be one of the criteria mentioned in the agreement that will be signed by the contractor before starting the construction work,&rdquo; said Bhatia. Roadblock Though civil and environment ministries have cleared the upcoming airport, CIDCO officials said four of the 18 villages, which would be acquired for building the airport, are yet to give their consent. &ldquo;We will write to all four sarpanches and ask them to reply at the earliest.
