Owners of hospitals say process pending with health dept of PMC for last 3-4 years u00a0 It's been a long wait for nursing homes in the city and for some as long as six years. They have alleged that the health department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) was delaying in giving them registration certificates although they had completed all the formalities necessary for setting up small nursing homes. <img alt="" src="/imagedata/2011/oct/Surya.jpg" border="5" /> Illegal: Surya Hospital in Katraj, which was found to be unregistered after it was raided in September by the PMC. Dr Mandar Ranade, joint secretary of National Integrated Medical Association (NIMA), said: "The rules made for nursing home's registration are rigid which are practically impossible to fulfill. The PMC should relax some of the rules as the nursing homesu00a0 are serving a noble cause." The whole issue came into limelight when Surya multi-specialty Clinic and Nursing Home in Katraj was raided by the PMC's health department. <img alt="" src="/imagedata/2011/oct/Mandar.jpg" border="5" /> Dr Mandar Ranade, joint secretary of NIMA When officials went there, they found that the nursing home was not registered. The nursing home is located in a narrow lane where people can hardly park their vehicles. Dr Sucheta Bhalerao of Surya Nursing Home, said: "We have been paying all the necessary taxes for the set up of the hospital. We have all the necessary facilities, but my registration has been pending since the last three to four years because we don't have a separate entrance."u00a0u00a0 A similar experience was shared by Dr Narendra Tawde of Datta Memorial Hospital in Katraj, who said, "My registration process has been delayed for the last six years. They told us we do not have a completion certificate." Tawde said that it was the builder's responsibility to get the completion certificate from the PMC. Dr R R Pardeshi, head of the health department of PMC, said: "We don't keep any registration pending, unless they are unable to provide the necessary documents. If hospital do not have parking space where will ambulances park during emergency?" Dr Vaishali Jadhav, additional medical officer of health, PMC, said: "We kept the proposal before Mahesh Zagade, the then municipal commissioner for relaxation of the rules for the registration process, but he didn't accept the proposal."
