<p>The <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/sonam-wangchuks-hunger-strike-will-lead-parliament-protest-as-sonam-wangchuk-continues-hunger-strike-says-gitanjali-angmo-23640570" target="_blank" rel="none noopener"><strong>Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)</strong></a> on Monday claimed that its founder, Abhijeet Dipke, had been detained by police during a protest march towards Parliament in New Delhi, reported the PTI.</p>
<p>In a post on X, CJP spokesperson Saurav Das alleged that Dipke had been taken into police custody as demonstrations intensified on the opening day of Parliament's Monsoon Session.</p>

<p>Das called on Members of Parliament to <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/sonam-wangchuks-hunger-strike-centre-displaying-dictatorial-attitude-says-congress-leader-nana-patole-23640540" target="_blank" rel="none noopener"><strong>support the protesters</strong></a>, urging elected representatives to stand with students participating in the demonstration.</p>
<p>He also alleged that police had used force against peaceful protesters during the march, claiming security personnel had carried out a crackdown on those gathered in central Delhi, according to the PTI.</p>
<p>Das, in a post later, stated that Dipke was not under detention or arrest.</p>
<p>"Misleading reports are currently circulating on various social media platforms claiming that Abhijit Dipke has been detained by the Delhi Police. It is formally clarified that these allegations are entirely false and he is available on stage," Delhi Police wrote in a post on X.</p>

<h2>Thousands join Parliament march</h2>
<p>Earlier in the day, thousands of students, activists and professionals assembled at and around Jantar Mantar before marching towards Parliament.</p>
<p>The protest, organised under the banner of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), sought the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and demanded greater accountability over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations and repeated examination paper leaks.</p>
<h2>Police Disperse Protesters</h2>
<p>As the march progressed, police used baton charges and tear gas to disperse demonstrators after groups of protesters breached barricades erected across central Delhi.</p>
<p>The situation led to heightened tensions between protesters and security personnel as authorities attempted to prevent the march from advancing towards Parliament.</p>
<h2>Forces resort to lathi charge</h2>
<p>Security personnel reportedly resorted to a baton charge near Parliament Street after thousands of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) <strong><a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/photo/in-photos-police-protesters-clash-at-jantar-mantar-during-cjps-chalo-sansad-march-112126" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">protesters allegedly attempted to breach barricades</a></strong> while marching towards Parliament on Monday.</p>
<p>According to PTI sources, at around 11.25 am, protesters tried to push through multiple barricades erected in the high-security zone, triggering a confrontation with police.</p>
<p>A heavy deployment of uniformed police personnel, along with officers in plain clothes, was in place across the area to maintain law and order and prevent demonstrators from marching towards Parliament, sources added.</p>
<h2>Delhi Police deny use of force</h2>
<p>However, New Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police Sachin Sharma denied reports of police using force against protesters, stating that not a single Delhi Police personnel had used force during the protest.</p>
<p><strong>In a statement posted on its official X handle, Delhi Police said:</strong></p>
<p>"Some sections of the media have reported sporadic use of <strong><a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/delhi-students-allege-lathi-charge-during-march-to-jantar-mantar-amid-cjp-protest-23640647" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">violence and detentions at Jantar Mantar</a></strong> by Delhi Police. It is clarified that no such incident has taken place and the protest is being handled professionally. All are requested not to fall prey to rumours or misinformation and to assist Delhi Police in maintaining peace and public order at and around the site."</p>
<p>The protest continued under heightened security arrangements as authorities closely monitored the situation around Parliament and central Delhi.</p>
