Theu00a0Vishrambaug police have recorded the statements of the three army officers from the College of Military Engineering (CME) who were involved in a clash with the traffic police at the Alka Talkies junction last week.

Police Inspector Rajendra Sawant from the Vishrambaug police station said the Young Officers (YOs) were met by the police on the CME campus on Monday, where they have been confined by the army authorities.

The officers claimed in their statement that the police were responsible for the provocation that led to the clash. They said the police provoked them even though they were ready to produce their driving licences and other relevant documents.

The police recorded the statements of Captain V Advait and Lieutenant A B Pandit, the two officers who allegedly also attacked locals and mediapersons present at the spot.

Around 7.30 pm on Tuesday last week, the officers were riding on the Lakdipul, a bridge that is off limits for two-wheelers, when they were stopped by two women traffic constables.

The constables and the YOs reportedly got into a heated argument which spiralled out of control with two entire trucks full of army soldiers reaching the spot.
