Coming soon: Dilli-style Mumbai Haat

Mumbaikars can look forward to some Delhi-style retail therapy in the near future, as municipal commissioner Sitaram Kunte in his January 4 budget speech advocated the setting up of a craft bazaar, on the lines of Dilli Haat, in the city
“Providing marketing facilities is necessary for any livelihood generation scheme. To further expand the marketing setup, I propose to start a permanent exhibition centre like Dilli Haat, where self-help groups (SHGs) from Mumbai and all over Maharashtra would get a platform to showcase their products,” he said. The civic body chief’s comments came as a pleasant surprise for many SHGs as they have endured a long wait to start their businesses in full swing, but have failed to find a firm foothold.
