Former BJP corporator Shyam Satpute has lodged a complaint against author Purushottam Khedekar
Former BJP corporator Shyam Satpute has lodged a complaint against author Purushottam Khedekar, who is the founder of Maratha Seva Sangh, and publisher Kishor Kadu for targeting a particular community and using abusive language against it in his book Shivarayanchya Badnamichee Kendre (Centres of Defamation of King Shivaji). The book was published in 2009. Satpute lodged the complaint at the Bund Garden police station on June 11. According to the complaint, Khedekar in his book had made many objectionable and controversial comments about a particular community.
"The author has made abusive statements against a particular community and had made derogatory remarks about its sexual abilities and orientation. He has gone to the extreme of instigating members of other communities to kill the community's males," Satpute said. "We demand a ban on Khedekar's book as it has targeted a particular community and as the writings in the book can disturb communal harmony." Khedekar was not available for comment. Police Inspector Sudhakar Kate from the Bund Garden police station said nobody had been arrested.
