Congress on Monday retained Tekkali assembly seat in the by-election, which was necessitated following the death of its MLA K Revathipathy.

Congress candidate and wife of Revathipathy, K Bharati wrestled the seat from her nearest rival Atcham Naidu of TDP with a margin of 7,173 votes.
