He was released from Yerwada jail on bail in dacoity case yesterday

Suspended vice-president of the city Congress and PMC Corporator Deepak Mankar was released from Yerwada jail at 9.15 am yesterday. Interestingly, there were just a handful of supporters present to welcome him.

When MiD DAY asked Abhay Chajed, city president of Congress, why Congress supporters had distanced themselves from Mankar said, "I am not aware about what happened, I am not in Pune."

Another senior Congress leader, Dr Satish Desai, said, "Why should Congress functionaries receive him from the jail, especially since he's been suspended?"

Over 10 cases have been registered against Mankar, including the one of alleged dacoity, in connection with which he was granted bail by the Supreme Court on Friday.
