Court issues notice to Delhi Police on Sharjeel Imam bail application in sedition case

The bail application has been moved by Talib Hussain, Ahmed Ibrahim and Kartik Venu. The application says in the view of the recent Supreme Court's direction, Sharjeel Imam should be granted bail

A Delhi Court has issued notice to Delhi Police on the bail application of Sharjeel Imam accused in the sedition case. Sharjeel had moved to the lower court for bail in the sedition case on May 27.

His counsel had withdrawn the bail application from the Delhi High Court after the prosecution had raised the issue of maintainability. The High court had asked him to approach the lower court for bail. Link Additional Sessions Judge of Karkardooma Court issued notice to Delhi police to file a reply on the bail application. The matter has been listed for hearing on June 6. Special judge Amitabh Rawat who is dealing with the case was to hear the matter. He was on leave, therefore the matter was mentioned before the linked judge.
