<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/search/suresh-raina-articles" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina</a>'s cousin was reportedly killed in a hit-and-run incident, which also claimed the life of another man riding the same scooter, police said on Thursday, reported the PTI.
According to the news agency, Suresh Raina's cousin identified as Saurabh Kumar was Raina's maternal cousin, and his friend Shubham from Kuthman died in a collision with a car near Gaggali airport on Wednesday, they said.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Kangra, Shalini Agnihotri, said the incident took place around 11:30 pm on Wednesday near Himachal Timber in Gaggal. According to the police, the driver of the car, Sher Singh, was responsible for the collision, as per the PTI.
He had fled the scene but with the help of the CCTV footage, which captured the incident, Singh was later arrested in Mandi, they added.
A case has been registered against the accused under sections 279 (rash driving) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code, along with section 187 of the Motor Vehicles Act, the police said, according to the PTI.
Couple, 2 children killed as motorcycle collides with car in Jharkhand
Meanwhile, in an another incident, a couple and their two children were killed as their motorcycle collided with a car in Jharkhand's Ranchi district, police said on Thursday, reported the PTI.
The accident happened near Bhelwatand Chowk in the Khalari police station area on Wednesday night, they said.
Pankaj Kumar, a homeguard posted at the SDPO's office in Tandwa, was traveling to Khalari with his wife and three children on the motorcycle when the accident happened, as per the PTI.
"The motorcycle collided head-on with a car. The homeguard, his wife and two children were killed," Deputy Superintendent of Police Ram Narayan Chaudhary told PTI.
The child, who survived the accident, has been admitted to a hospital for treatment, he said.
The driver of the car is absconding, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/maharashtra-thane-police-bust-vehicle-theft-resale-racket-3-rto-officials-among-nine-held-23347207" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">police</a> said.
One person killed, 11 injured in road accident in J&amp;K's Ramban
One person was killed and eleven others injured when a vehicle collided with a truck on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Jammu and Kashmir's Ramban district, officials said, as per the PTI.
The accident occurred late on Wednesday when a tempo traveller on its way to Srinagar from Jammu collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction in the Shabanbass area of Banihal. The tempo traveller was carrying 16 passengers, including 12 tourists from Kerala, officials said.
According to officials, one passenger died on the spot, while eleven others escaped with minor injuries.
The injured were shifted to a hospital for treatment, they said, the news agency reported on Thursday.
