The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a pre-cyclone watch for the Andhra Pradesh and adjoining south Odisha coasts, warning that a depression over the Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a very severe cyclonic storm before crossing the Andhra Pradesh coast on October 28.
In its special tropical weather outlook issued on Sunday, the IMD said the system was centred over the eastcentral and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal at 5.30 am IST. It was located around 440 km north-northwest of Sri Vijaya Puram in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and 980 km east-southeast of both Visakhapatnam and Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh.
