Roaring winds and heavy rains were already lashing Odisha and Andhra Pradesh since evening as the cyclone moved from the Bay of Bengal towards the coast.
More than 400,000 people were shifted to safety in coastal Odisha and Andhra Pradesh ahead of the cyclonic storm, packing wind power of up to 220 km an hour.u00a0
