The application of Pune Crime Branch to conduct narco-analysis test on two accused — Manish Nagori and Vikas Khandelwal — arrested in connection with the murder of Dr Narendra Dabholkar, was rejected by a court of Judicial Magistrate (First Class) on Tuesday. The court, however, allowed police to take custody of the weapon allegedly used by the duo from Thane police.

Claiming that Nagori and Khandelwal were not cooperating during investigations, the prosecution had moved an application in the court seeking permission to conduct narco- analysis test on the duo. Assistant commissioner of police (crime) Rajendra Bhamare filed both pleas through assistant public prosecutor Mahadev Poul.

The court while rejecting the plea, considered the application filed by the accused through their lawyer BA Aloor showing no consent for the test. The court, relying on old judgments, ordered in favour of the duo.
