Lucknow: In a fresh twist to the Dadri case where a Muslim man, Mohd Akhlaq, was lynched for allegedly eating cow meat last year, a local court in Greater Noida on Thursday directed the police to lodge an FIR against members of Akhlaq's family, accused of consuming beef.
According to information available, Chief Judicial Magistrate Vijay Kumar also asked police to investigate the entire matter again.
The order was given by the CJM on a petition filed by locals of Bisahada village who sought directions to the police to lodge an FIR against Akhlaq's family fo consuming beef. A forensic science laboratory recently inferred that the meat sent to it after being confiscated from the fridge of the family was of cow or its progeny.
In the petition moved by the locals, seven members of the family, including the widow of the deceased, and his mother Asgari were named. The petitioners told the CJM court that their plea was not entertained by the local police earlier and hence they moved the court.
Akhlaq was lynched by his neighbours in Dadri last September over rumours that he and his family had eaten beef.
