As many as 54 students of Assam Engineering College (AEC) in Guwahati reportedly fell ill following a serious water contamination incident after a dead monkey was allegedly found inside a hostel water storage tank. 

The incident came to light on the evening of November 2, when residents of Hostel No. 7 complained about an unusual smell coming from the water supplied to the hostel. As per reports, the carcass had remained inside the tank for nearly a week before it was discovered.
