Delhi gangrape case: Proceedings against Ram Singh abated

A fast-track Delhi court hearing the Dec 16, 2012 gangrape case abated proceedings against prime accused Ram Singh as he is dead.

V K Anand, counsel for Ram Singh, told reporters, March 13 outside the courtroom that "since the accused is dead and the court has also been informed about his death, the proceedings against him are abated".

Additional Sessions Judge Yogesh Khanna was informed that Ram Singh "hanged himself to death" in his cell in Tihar Jail March 11 and a detailed status report was awaited.
