In a major breakthrough, the Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested a notorious drug supplier who had been on the run for over eight months. The accused, who had been operating in the shadows for the past eight years, is believed to be responsible for the distribution of more than 500 kilograms of heroin and opium across multiple states in India.

The arrest of the fugitive drug kingpin took place in Bathinda, Punjab, a location that had served as his hideout for nearly a year. According to the Delhi Police Special Cell, the accused had been actively engaged in the illicit drug trade, catering to markets in Delhi, Punjab, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, and other regions through a network of well-organized carriers, primarily from Manipur.

The operation revealed that the accused had been coordinating a large-scale trafficking network, relying on carriers who transported heroin and opium from the northeastern state of Manipur to various parts of the country, including the national capital.

Police bust narcotics manufacturing unit at farmhouse in Palghar; one held

Meanwhile, the police has busted a narcotics manufacturing unit operating at a farmhouse in a tribal area in Maharashtra's Palghar district and arrested one person, an official said on Monday.

Acting on a tip-off, the Mira-Bhayandar Virar-Vasai (MBVV) police on Sunday raided the farmhouse in the Kawalpada area of predominantly tribal Mokhada taluka, the official said. The police team seized a large stock of narcotic substances and found accessories and machinery used for making the contraband, the official said.

One person has been arrested in connection with the manufacture and distribution of drugs, the official said, adding that the manufacturing unit was set up in the remote village to evade the authorities. This is a major seizure after the raids in Solapur, Nashik and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, he said. Further details about the raid are awaited. (With inputs from agencies)
