New Delhi: The Delhi Secretariat will soon&nbsp;become the first state secretariat of the country to run&nbsp;completely on renewable and solar energy, the AAP government&nbsp;today claimed.
To achieve the goal of making the national capital a&nbsp;"Solar City", Delhi government said that it has decided to&nbsp;start the work from Delhi Secretariat itself.
"Delhi Government in association with Ministry of New &amp;&nbsp;Renewable Energy (MNRE), is setting up a 3 MW ground-based&nbsp;Solar Power Plant at the vacant land of Indraprastha Power&nbsp;Station.
"This Solar power plant will be a showcase power plant&nbsp;that will supply power directly to Delhi Secretariat for the&nbsp;next 25 years. This will make Delhi Secretariat, the first&nbsp;State Secretariat of the country running completely on the&nbsp;renewable and green energy making it an environment friendly&nbsp;green building," a senior government official said, adding that the work on the project has already been started.
Besides making the Secretariat a green building, it will also bring down the electricity bills of Delhi Secretariat considerably.&nbsp;
The official said that the plant will utilise latest&nbsp;technology including the tracker mechanism which will track&nbsp;the movement of sun for the maximum output.&nbsp;
Delhi Government is also taking up steps to convert Delhi&nbsp;Secretariat into the most energy-efficient building by&nbsp;adopting various energy-efficient measures, he said.
