Multi-cuisine restaurant CopaCabana on Aundh Wakad road offers delicious world cuisine in a swanky ambience

Our visit to CopaCabana happened completely by chance. We were informed by a friend about a new Goan restaurant that had opened at Vishal Nagar. What we found instead was a swanky eatery offering world cuisine.

After parking our car, we had to wait our turn for almost 20 minutes, which allowed us to check out the place. Built on a huge property, there's a night club on the first floor, which at first glance didn't seem very impressive.

We decided to stick to the restaurant, which extends to the back porch. There's even a small waterfall in the background, where customers waiting in queue, like us, posed happily in front of.

Soon, we were chatting with the owner Abhijeet Shroff, who happens to be an orthopedic specialist by profession.

The tables and chairs on the porch give the place a very laidback feel, which was over-crowded on the weekend.

We got a table indoors, which was thankfully not too crowded. CopaCabana is easy on the eye thanks to the massive glass windows and sequinned jharokhas.

The menu includes vegetarian and non-vegetarian Indian, Thai, Chinese, Mexican, Japanese, Italian and Korean dishes. For starters we ordered the Philipino Vinegar Chicken (Rs 180). The popular dish had chicken chunks marinated in vinegar and soya sauce and was tossed in garlic.

Th thick gravy tasted yummy, and we especially enjoyed the flavour of the garlic cloves. They are generous with their portions, which are can easily feed two people.

The Achari Paneer Masala (Rs 180) with Butter Naan (Rs 35) had too much salt. It included large cubes of paneer cooked in a medium-spicy red gravy and was just about average.

The Shashlik Sizzler (Rs 300) made up for the flaws of the Achari Paneer. The chicken steak was grilled and served with brown sauce, potato fries, vegetables and rice.

While some of the attendants were prompt and well-informed, others failed to even understand our queries. So Copacabana still has a while to go, at least as far as its service goes.
