Over 100 students at Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS) were rushed to hospitals to be treated for food poisoning yesterday.

The students reportedly fell ill after consuming food served at the canteen.
M S Dadke from Aditya Birla hospital said, "Most students were suffering from gastroenteritis." Dr Rajeev Yeravdekar, dean of SIHS,u00a0 said, "The condition of students admitted in city hospitals is stable now."
Some students told this reporter that the management had advised them to drink mineral water and not eat food prepared in the campus. The FDA Assistant Commissioner (Food) Chandrakant Saluke told MiD DAY, "We did not get food samples at the canteen. We have instead sent some garlic paste samples to the laboratory for testing."u00a0
Hinjewadi police registered a complaint under Section 336 and 337 of IPC against canteen contractor Prabahakar Shetty, manager Sundar Bhangera and the college for endangering life and safety of others by serving contaminated food.
