For the first time, the BMC has proposed the mechanised cleaning of the Eastern Freeway as well as Santacruz-Chembur Link Road once a week at a cost of Rs 94 lakhs for two years.

These roads will be cleaned using the manning-mopping technique everyday and mechanically once a week. The proposal will be tabled before the civic standing committee on Wednesday and only if it is approved, will it be implemented.
