Education director wants transport cells to be included in RTE norms

The furore over the molestation case of a four-year-old girl by a school bus attendant on Friday has made the authorities cautious. This incident revealed that out of 30,000 unaided private schools in the state, only 10,000 have formed the mandatory school transport cell in their institutes.

Taking cognisance of this, state education director (Primary) Mahaveer Mane is planning to petition the state education department to make it mandatory for all schools to set up transport committees by making amendments to the Right to Education Act (RTE).
