A day after the Malegaon blast verdict acquitted all accused, ex-ATS officer Mehiboob Mujawar alleged he was ordered to frame RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. He claimed efforts were made to establish “saffron terror” and that false charges ruined his 40-year career. The ATS probe was later taken over by the NIA.

A day after the Malegaon blast verdict was out, which acquitted 7 accused, an ex-Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) official claimed that the agency was asked to frame RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat in the case.
A former police official who was part of the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) that probed the 2008 Malegaon blast case has claimed that he had been asked to frame prominent figures of the country, as per the reports from the news agency PTI.
As per PTI, the objective behind the order at that time was to establish that there was "saffron terror," retired inspector Mehiboob Mujawar alleged on Thursday. Retired inspector Mehiboob Mujawar, while reacting to the trial court's verdict acquitting all seven accused, including former BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur, slammed the agencies for acting in a certain way.
While speaking at Solapur, he highlighted that the court's ruling undid the "fake things" done by the ATS. Notably, while the ATS initially probed the case, it was later taken over by the National Investigation Agency.
Mujawar further stated while naming a senior official that “the verdict exposed the fake investigation done by a fake officer," as cited by news agency PTI.
“He was part of the ATS team that probed the blast at Malegaon on September 29, 2008, in which six people were killed and 101 others were injured,” Mujawar added, along with claiming that he was asked to "go and catch" Mohan Bhagwat.
He further emphasised that, "I cannot say what investigation the ATS did then and why... But I was given some confidential orders regarding personalities like Ram Kalsangra, Sandip Dange, Dilip Patidar, and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. All these orders were not such that one could follow them," as per PTI. He, in fact, did not follow them, as they were "horrific," and he knew the reality, Mujawar added.
Alleging that it was beyond his capacity to get Mohan Bhagwat in this case, he asserted that "it was beyond my capacity to apprehend a towering personality like Mohan Bhagwat. As I did not follow the orders, a false case was registered against me, and it destroyed my career of 40 years," as per PTI.
While commenting on the 2008 Malegaon blast case, the former police official claimed that he had documentary proof to back his claims. He said, "There was no saffron terrorism. Everything was fake."
