Pic/Satish Badiger A detailed probe by the special branch squad of CCB found that V Ramaiah, a resident of Vasanth Nagar created fake land records to claim his ownership on the government land. Further investigations revealed that Ramaiah involved his entire family, including four daughters and three sons, to sign the sale deed for an NOC (No Objection Certificate). A senior officer who investigated the case said that the fake documents were so perfect that Ramaiah managed to hoodwink the construction company. "It is shocking that such a big company has fallen for the con," he said.u00a0 If only they had checked carefully, they would have not only saved crores of rupees but also resources worth several crores. They were planning to build a residential and commercial complex on the highway which leads to the Bangalore International Airport," said an official. He added that soon after the boom in land prices following the shifting of BIAL to Bangalore north, the city police have witnessed an increase in number of complaints regarding land grabbing and disputes. "Since such cases are a civil matter, we ask around 60 per cent complainants to approach the court. But the remaining cases are being investigated since they involve cheating, forgery and criminal intimidation," added the official. ACP BN Nyamegowda, who has filed a complaint with the High Grounds police to initiate legal action, refused to comment on this issue. "The matter is still under investigation and its not right to divulge more details at this point," he said. The police are yet to initiate action against Ramaiah and his family, because of pending investigations by the CCB.
