It’s the mediocre who give themselves airs and graces.
After her recent close encounter in Jodhpur with Chinese superstar Jackie Chan, in which she taught the world’s favourite Kung Fu Panda her meanest Bolly moves for a film unsurprisingly titled Kung Fu Yoga, film director and choreographer Farah Khan reiterates the aforementioned theme.

“There’s so much to learn from Jackie,” she said. “I was flown down by the Chinese producers and put up in a huge suite at a five-star,” she said. “When I enquired where the rest of the crew was I was informed that they were all at some nameless hole in the wall hotel,” she said. “And when I enquired where Mr Chan was, I was told he was staying in the same hotel too, as he always insists on staying with the unit when he films!” she said, the admiration and awe palpable in her voice.
As for his dancing skills, Khan insists Chan has the required courage of his convulsions. “I made him to do full on Govinda moves and even his facial expressions,” she said, adding, “And he could do it all: pelvic thrusts, ‘dipping’ and shoulder wiggling.” Is his dancing style like Sunny Deol’s? We enquire unconvinced. “Why does every one ask me that?” wailed Khan. Kung fu Yoga releases next year in time for Chinese New Year.

Present on the occasion were cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Ajinkya Rahane, and politicians Sharad Pawar and daughter Supriya Sule of the NCP. As is known, Baramati has long been a NCP stronghold, and Pawar senior has held every top cricket governing position in the past (he’s been chairman of the BCCI and president of ICC and MCA in the past.)
What’s more, Sule as the member of Parliament for Baramati, has ensured infrastructure has been modernised and is herself a passionate circket enthusiast often spotted at the Wankhede Stadium watching IPL matches with her family. The stadium has been her pet project and yesterday she took to social media posting: “Hon. Sharad Pawar Saheb’s wish has been fulfilled today. Baramati gets a stadium of International standards.” Cricket and politicians. Cheese and potatoes. Oh what a tasty dish!

Voodoo days in London? A forward that’s been doing the rounds recently in the city’s social whirl, has elicited much comment. It alludes to the black magic spells that a well-known socialite, married to the scion of a wealthy London-based clan, has been accused of putting on her victims, and purports to reveal a flourishing interest in the dark arts by top NRIs.
Posted by someone who calls herself a ‘spell caster,’ it accuses the said socialite of seeking the help of the unnamed female spell caster to not only hook the beleaguered bachelor, but subsequently to hex him so he ‘falls seriously ill.’
The account entitled ‘Warning Black Magic Dangerous woman London Nationwide’ written in toe curling purple prose and filed two years ago allegedly during the run up to the high profile wedding of the couple in question, and narrated in the words of a practitioner of spells and voodoo mumbo jumbo, may not be wholly credible but certainly puts a whole new spin to the phrase ‘she cast a spell on him’.

This confirms what we’ve always known: the truly great are the epitome of humility and least concerned with their greatness
