Foreigners smoke at Rural Police HQ, cops turn blind eye

The porch of the Pune Rural Police headquarters on Pashan Road is a public place, and yet yesterday several foreigners could be seen smoking there, right under the nose of the police personnel stationed at the main entrance.
Despite the ban on smoking in public places, most foreigners, including women, were smoking and playing cards to kill time as they awaited their turn for registration and visa formalities.u00a0The police personnel posted at the main entrance were turning a blind eye to the smoking.u00a0Several people, including foreign visitors, visit the rural police office every day in connection with passport verification, foreign registration and visa-related formalities.u00a0
