Starved for tasty, paisa vasool options in the vicinity of the Mid-Day office, The Guide Team's foodies crossed the road to taste the fare at just-opened Chinese eatery 7 spice. Here's the 7-layer verdict

FIONA FERNANDEZ
There's an unsaid liaison between value-for-money Chinese eateries and Mumbai's offices; 7 Spice snugly fits the bill, quite literally. I settled into its compact interiors and stuck to starters Red Pepper Chicken
(Rs 115), Barbecue Chicken Wings (Rs 120) and Chicken Spring Rolls (Rs 95). The red pepper cleared the sinuses though I could do without the artificial colours; the chicken wings, ideal for after-
hour bouts of bingeing had a pleasant soy sauce aftertaste while the spring rolls passed the test for sasta
soul food.

I tried the Chicken Wonton Soup (Rs 70), which is ideal for a rainy day. It had steamed chicken wontons floating in a chicken broth. Not too oily, this clear soup is perfect to keep
the monsoon chills at bay.

ADITI SHARMA
After a lot of head-scratching when the ma ufffdtre-d' suggested Crispy Veg/ Pepper Salt (Rs 100) as the best vegetarian starter, I was a little disappointed. How wrong can you go with fried food? Still, I gave the go-ahead and our crunchy hot order arrived in 15 minutes. The owner promised all kinds of exotic veggies but what I got was the typical desi Chinese suspects, dunked in a thick batter. It tasted decent and the portions were generous, so no complaints there. But no encores for this dish.
