A Naxal supporter involved in violent activities against security forces was arrested by the Gadchiroli Police and CRPF on 30 September 2025 in the Bhamragad area. The suspect had earlier participated in a police-Maoist encounter on 27 August 2025.
Gadchiroli district, a known Maoist-affected region, frequently witnesses acts of sabotage, including attacks on security personnel, arson, and obstruction of government work. Since January 2022, police operations have led to the arrest of 110 Maoists in the district.
According to officials, intelligence from a confidential informant alerted police and CRPF personnel on 29 September 2025 that a suspect was conducting reconnaissance of security forces in the Bhamragad area. Acting swiftly, teams from Post Bhamragad and CRPF 37 Battalion F Company apprehended the individual.
The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Sainu alias Sannu Amalu Mattami, a resident of Poyarkothi village in Bhamragad, initially gave evasive answers during questioning. He was later brought to the Police Sub-Divisional Headquarters in Pranhita for further interrogation. Investigations revealed that he had entered the area with the intent to commit sabotage and was actively involved in prior destructive actions against security personnel.
Sainu’s participation in the 27 August 2025 police-Maoist encounter in the Mauja Koparshi-Phulnar forest area was confirmed. He was formally arrested under FIR No. 02/2025, and investigations into his involvement in other criminal activities are ongoing under the supervision of Sub-Divisional Police Officer Amar Mohite.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of senior officials including Special Inspector General of Police (Anti-Maoist Operations) Sandeep Patil, Deputy Inspector General Ankit Goyal (Gadchiroli Range), DIG (Operations) CRPF Ajay Kumar Sharma, Superintendent of Police Gadchiroli Neelotpal, and Commandant 37 Battalion CRPF Dao Engirkan Kindo. Officers from Post Bhamragad, INT Cell Pranhita, and CRPF participated in the operation.
Superintendent of Police Neelotpal emphasized that anti-Maoist operations in the region would be intensified and reiterated an appeal to Maoists to abandon violence, surrender, and lead a dignified life.
