In a chilling case of premeditated murder, Gurugram Police have arrested a woman, her neighbour with whom she was allegedly having an affair, and three others for killing her husband and hiding his body, officials confirmed on Sunday, reported the PTI.
The victim, Vikram (37), originally from Nawada, Bihar, was residing in Dundahera village, Gurugram.
According to the PTI, the police said that Vikram’s wife, Soni Devi (35), confessed during questioning that she, along with her neighbour and alleged lover Ravindra (34), plotted the murder after her daughter discovered an inappropriate video of the pair and informed Vikram.
The police said that Soni initially reported her husband missing on July 28, filing a second complaint on July 31, accusing Ravindra of raping her in March 2025 and blackmailing her with a video recording of the incident. However, police investigations soon unravelled a conspiracy to murder.
Ravindra was arrested and reportedly confessed to the killing.
Two accomplices, Manish (19) and Fariyaad (20), were also arrested and remanded to police custody for five days. A fifth suspect, Santarpal (60) – Ravindra’s uncle – was detained for helping bury Vikram’s body, and remanded on Sunday, as per the PTI.
The police spokesperson said Ravindra and Soni had been in a relationship for about a year. When their daughter saw an explicit video of them on Ravindra’s phone, she told Vikram, which allegedly triggered the murder plot.
The accused allegedly watched online tutorials and YouTube videos to learn methods of murder and body disposal, the news agency reported on Sunday.
On July 26, Ravindra and his accomplices allegedly abducted Vikram on his way home from work, strangled him with a rope, and buried his body near Mohammadpur Jharsa village in a pit dug earlier by Santarpal.
The body was later recovered after Ravindra disclosed the burial site during police interrogation. Investigators also confirmed that Soni Devi remained in continuous phone contact with Ravindra throughout the incident, despite pretending ignorance by filing a missing person’s report two days later.
Police said that further interrogation is underway, and judicial remand has been granted for Soni Devi, the news agency reported.
