H1N1 toll touches 25 in city

The dreaded H1N1 virus claimed two more lives in the city taking the toll to 25 since April this year. A man from Velhe and a man from Akol succumbed to the virus yesterday.

Sandip Jadhav (23) was admitted in KEM hospital and Jayant Kulkarni (49) was admitted in a private hospital in the city. Both men had tested positive on October 4.u00a0

As per the PMC report, Sandip delayed treatment for two days and died of multiple organ dysfunction syndrome, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and H1N1 Pneumonitis.
Kulkarni failed to seek medical help for six days and succumbed to ARDS.
