Tokyo: Projecting Haryana as a 'land of opportunities and enterprise', Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday sought more investment from Japanese firms especially in infrastructure, defence, aerospace and electronics hardware manufacturing, assuring them of hassle-free business environment in the state.

Speaking at a well-attended investment promotion seminar here, Khattar said that nearly one-third of foreign investments in Haryana are from Japanese companies.
"It is a matter of pride that Japan has been one of the major investors in Haryana. The investment flow started with the entry of Suzuki in the 1980s which created an entire eco-system of auto ancillaries in Faridabad and Gurgaon," he said in his address switching between Japanese and English.
Seeking Japanese firms' continued preference and investments for the state, he assured them of hassle-free business environment and wholehearted support of his government.
The Chief Minister said that the government would appoint Relationship Managers for Japanese investors who would handhold them through the entire project lifecycle.
The Chief Minister is leading an official and business delegation to Japan and China to invite foreign direct investment to the state. He said that Haryana offers great opportunities for investment in fields of IT/ITES, agro and food processing, healthcare and medical education, skill development, electronics hardware manufacturing, textile and apparel, defence and aerospace and mass rapid transport.
He said that presence of large multinational companies in Haryana, including Japanese companies like Suzuki, Honda, Panasonic, Aisin, Mitsubishi, Yokohama, Yakult, Musashi, Mitsui, Asahi, YKK, Stanley, Denso, Asti, Kansai, NHK, NTN, Daikin, Showa, Sanden, Koyo, is a testimony to the state's progressive industrial policies and the sound infrastructure facilities available to the industrial entrepreneurs.
Calling Haryana a land of opportunities and enterprise, he said, the state is the leading manufacturer of cranes, excavators, cars, two-wheelers, footwear and scientific instruments.
The Haryana Chief Minister said the government is determined to create an ecosystem in which the 'Ease of Doing Business' in the state matches and even exceeds the best global standards to reduce delays and increase competitiveness of the Industry by reducing the cost of doing business.
The government has also also set up a Japanese hostel in Gurgaon to provide home like environment for the Japanese visiting India, he said. Haryana has the highest per capita income amongst the larger states in India and the State GDP is growing at the rate of 7.8 per cent annually, he said.
The Chief Minister said that the manufacturing and services sectors contribute about 86 per cent to the state economy.
"Creation of infrastructure of international standard has our special attention. We are constantly striving to improve connectivity, ensure adequate power and water and create social infrastructure like schools and hospitals," he said.
Being one of the first nodes on the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, Haryana, he said, is at an advanced stage of planning of three large infrastructure projects including mass rapid transit system between Gurgaon and Manesar Bawal industrial region, integrated multimodal logistics Hub in southern Haryana and global city with world class exhibition-cum-convention centre in Gurgaon.
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has already committed long term funding of USD 2.5 billion for the mass rapid transport system project costing USD 3.5 billion.
The Chief Minister later held meetings with CEOs and top officials of Japanese companies including Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India, Marubeni Corporation, SMBC Nikko Securities, Bank of Tokyo and Mitsubishi. He invited them to 'Happening Haryana Global Investors
Summit' to be held from March 7 to 8, and 'Haryana Parvasi Divas' on March 9 in Gurgaon. After holding one-to-one meetings with prospective investors of top companies and banks based in Japan, he said that the Haryana Government will soon appoint a Japanese speaking officer in Tokyo to facilitate Japanese companies considering making investments in India.
Speaking at the seminar, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Suzuki Motors Corporation, Osamu Suzuki exhorted the Japanese entrepreneurs to not only invest in Haryana but also to take their local vendors along.
Indian Ambassador to Japan, Sujan Chinoy said that Haryana is "unique" among all states because of its locational advantage.
After the meeting, Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India announced that it will set up a driving safety school in Haryana, adopt an industrial training institute for skill development training and make significant and substantial investments in research and development and development of new models in its Manesar plant in Haryana.
