Chandigarh: A top Haryana police official said on Thursday that the film "Padmaavat" was screened in cinema halls across the state without any interruption.

"Adequate security arrangements were made and no untoward incident took place in any part of the state," Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) B.S. Sandhu told the media here.

Sandhu said that the movie was being screened in 33 cinema halls in nine cities, including seven cinema halls in Gurugram, 11 in Faridabad, three in Hisar, one each in Sirsa and Fatehabad, six in Rohtak, two in Jhajjar and one each in Sonipat and Rewari.

"No untoward incident has been reported from anywhere. As many as 31 persons have been arrested in connection with yesterday's (Wednesday's) incident of violence at some places. Complete security has been provided by the police inside and outside cinema halls," Sandhu said.

Referring to the incident of stone-pelting on a school bus in Gurugram on Wednesday, the DGP said 18 people have been arrested in this connection.

"Apart from this, five persons in Kherki Daula and eight in other areas of Gurugram have also been arrested. Some pre-emptive arrests too have been made and so far four FIRs have been registered in this matter," he added.

"No one would be allowed to take the law in his own hands and strict action would be taken if anyone does so," Sandhu said.

He urged owners of cinema halls to get in touch with police and the district administration concerned for security. Complete security would be provided to such cinema halls as intend to screen the movie, he added.
