The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, authorised two Ministry of Railways projects totalling Rs 6,405 crore on Wednesday. The project, which was approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, will aim to improve travel convenience, cut logistic costs, reduce oil imports, and help to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

The two projects, which encompass seven districts in the states of Jharkhand, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh, will add around 318 kilometres to India's existing railway network. The approved multi-tracking project will improve connection to 1,408 villages with a population of roughly 28.19 lakh.
