Banjara refers to the nomadic tribals from the desserts of Rajasthan, who are known as much for their unique style of living as for their colourful sense of dressing. In the bylanes of Baner is an ethnic shop that offers you the best of nomadic attire.



Range: The interiors of Banjaras is decorated with antique furniture while block-printing templates hang from the ceiling and flowing dupattas line the walls. They stock fabrics from 10 different regions of India, which are dispatched to another state that specialises in fabric art, such as block-printing (Gujarat) or hand embroidery (West Bengal). Their fabric can be used as eclectic curtains, saris or can be stitched in the form of salwar-kameez, kurtas and skirts. They also sell block-printed purses, pouches, wallets, folders and crockery that can be gifted to your loved ones.

USP: They offer over 80 types of special dupattas alongwith ethnic bead jewellery from Maya-Bazaar in Mumbai. The jewellery is moderately priced and an average set costs between Rs 200 to Rs 400.

We liked: The Maheshwari dupattas with Zari borders (Rs 950) are gorgeous and can be worn for a professional or a casual event. You can also pair the cream khadi material (Rs 150 per metre) with a dupatta ( Rs 950) to get a traditional attire. They have in-house tailors as well who will stitch the garments for Rs 250.
