Fake PAN cards, school leaving certificatess seized

Six suspected illegal Bangladeshi migrants have been caught by the Special Operation Wing of the police, who said they seized fake school leaving certificates, PAN cards and other documents from them.

The six worked as construction labourers at Magarpatta City in Hadapsar.

The police identified the Bangladeshis as Deepak Shadeer Mandal (24), Uday Durga Dhali (21), Binandro Natai Dhali (23), Jiyaroo Miyaraj Shaudar (26), Ashraf Alinoor Islam Shana (26), and Vismatumandal Govinda Mandal (28). Deepak Mandal and Dhali lived in Hadapsar, and the rest in Green Woods Colony on Solapur Road.

Apprehended on Tuesday night, Mandal and Dhali reportedly told the police they were five years old when they crossed the border with friends and family.

A police team led by Inspector Sunil Tambe caught the six after Constable Sandeep Patil (27) got a tip-off. In the city since 2007, they managed to pass off as Indians with their fake documents.

"Suburbs where construction is in full swing have turned hubs for such people, and it is a matter of concern," Inspector Tambe said. "A special team will investigate if they have any terror links."
