IMD forecasts heavy rainfall in several states as low-pressure area persists over Gangetic West Bengal

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday forecast heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in several parts of eastern and central India as a well-marked low-pressure area continues to persist over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining regions of north coastal Odisha and the northwest Bay of Bengal.
The weather system is expected to bring widespread light to moderate rainfall across several states over the coming days, with isolated areas likely to experience heavy, very heavy and, in some places, extremely heavy rainfall.
