Merely a month after the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation repaired potholes at Gokhale Rail Over Bridge (ROB) in Andheri, the potholes have recurred and lead to traffic jams during peak hours. Worse, the paver blocks, which were used to fill the potholes, have been dislodged. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/oct/car.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 373px;" /> Paver blocks fitted by the BMC on the Gokhale ROB in Andheri have dislodged and created potholes Gokhale ROB is a busy bridge connecting the eastern and western areas of the suburb, and Andheri west with the Western Express Highway. &ldquo;The civic authority has ignored the fact that quality work must be undertaken during such repairs. Potholes not only cause traffic jam but also increase chances of fatal accident. Bikers, especially, can easily skid on the potholes and loose paver blocks,&rdquo; said Sudhakar Ahire, a resident of Four Bungalows. The Gokhale ROB was in bad shape during the monsoon and was repaired only after commuters made several complaints to the BMC. Unexpected rains over the past week have worsened the condition of the ROB. Fifteen to 20 potholes have developed on the west side of the ROB. &ldquo;The dismal condition of the bridge makes our commute worse because we don&rsquo;t have an alternative &mdash; we cannot ride bikes on the highway because they skid easily there, too,&rdquo; said Saurabh Seth, a regular user of the bridge. &ldquo;The paver blocks laid down during monsoon needed some more work. We couldn&rsquo;t complete the work perfectly the first time. The mastic work couldn&rsquo;t be done during the rains as it&rsquo;s not effective then. We have a proposal of resurfacing the road and we will start work within a week. The work will be done from 11pm to 6am. However, we need some personnel from the traffic department, too, and await their participation,&rdquo; said SO Kori, chief engineer, BMC.u00a0
