In his 12th Independence Day address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a series of transformative initiatives, signalling India’s readiness to accelerate its journey toward a prosperous future, reported ANI.

PM Modi outlined landmark plans, including the launch of India’s first semiconductor chip, indigenous jet engine development, a Rs 1 lakh crore youth employment programme, and a target to expand the nation’s nuclear energy capacity tenfold. He reaffirmed his vision of building a “Naya Bharat” and set the ambitious goal of making India a fully developed nation by 2047, touching upon technology, economy, energy, and national security, reported ANI.

  1. Semiconductors – From lost decades to mission mode

Recalling how efforts to set up semiconductor plants 50–60 years ago were “killed at birth” while other nations surged ahead, PM Modi declared India is now in mission mode. By year-end, the nation will produce its first Made in India chip, reported ANI.

  1. Nuclear energy capacity to grow tenfold by 2047

India is developing 10 new nuclear reactors as part of a long-term plan to increase nuclear power generation capacity more than tenfold in the next two decades.

  1. GST reforms – A Diwali gift

On Diwali, the government will roll out next-generation GST reforms aimed at lowering taxes on essential goods and providing relief to MSMEs, local traders, and consumers, reported ANI.

  1. Reform task force for a USD 10 trillion Bharat

A new Reform Task Force will drive critical next-gen reforms to speed up economic growth, simplify regulations, modernise governance, and prepare India for a USD 10 trillion economy by 2047.

  1. Rs 1 lakh crore PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana

The Prime Minister announced a Rs 1 lakh crore employment scheme under which newly hired youth will receive Rs 15,000 per month. Targeting 3 crore beneficiaries, it aims to link Swatantra Bharat with Samriddha Bharat, reported ANI.

  1. High-powered demography mission

PM Modi warned of demographic imbalance caused by infiltration and illegal migration in border areas. He announced a High-Powered Demography Mission to safeguard national security and citizens’ rights.

  1. Energy Independence – Samudra Manthan begins

Pointing out India’s heavy petroleum import bill, PM Modi launched the National Deepwater Exploration Mission to harness ocean resources, alongside large-scale expansions in solar, hydrogen, hydro, and nuclear energy, reported ANI.

  1. Made in India jet engines – A national challenge

Calling for a national effort akin to vaccine development during COVID and UPI for digital payments, PM Modi urged scientists and youth to take on the challenge of manufacturing indigenous jet engines.
