India, China troops end stand-off ahead of Khurshid's Beijing visit
Updated On: 06 May, 2013 09:08 AM IST | | Agencies
Intense negotiations over the weekend between India and China saw an end to the 20-day stand-off with troops of both sides pulling back to their respective positions prior to April 15 -- when Chinese forces had intruded 19 km inside the Indian side of the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh, sources said.
The development comes just days ahead of External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid's May 9 visit to Beijing.
"Intensive diplomatic contacts led by Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai, coordinating with military authorities and Ambassador Jai Shankar in Beijing, which led to flag meeting in which face-to-face situation was resolved," said an official source.
