India and the US are poised to soon firm up the much-awaited trade agreement that will be both “beneficial” and “sustainable” and will advance the mutual interests of both nations, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Sunday after holding high-level talks with External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar.
“India-US relations have not lost momentum. India-US relations will come out much stronger in the coming years,” Rubio said. The India-US ties nosedived significantly when the Trump administration hit Indian exports with 50 per cent tariffs, including a 25 per cent levy over Russian energy purchases.
