Jammu and Kashmir: One terrorist neutralised in Kulgam encounter

Indian security forces killed a terrorist in a fierce encounter in Kulgam’s Guddar forest, officials said. A JCO has also sustained injuries in the incident. The joint operation was launched on specific intelligence inputs. Meanwhile, the BSF apprehended a Pakistani intruder in Jammu’s RS Pura sector, and the NIA carried out raids at 22 locations

The Indian security forces have eliminated a terrorist at Kulgam, reported news agency ANI. The Chinar Corps of the Indian Army said that the operation began in the Guddar forest of Kulgam district in Jammu and Kashmir, where the forces were successful in eliminating the terrorist. 

The Indian Army, while giving more information about the operation, said that “during the fierce encounter, a junior commissioned officer suffered injuries". 


News agency ANI also reported that the encounter was carried out based on a specific intelligence input by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, and a joint search operation was conducted between the Indian Army, police, and Srinagar CRPF.



While posting on social media platform X, the Chinar Corps said, “COP GUDDAR, Kulgam. Based on specific intelligence input by JKP, a joint search operation was launched by the Indian Army, JmuKmrPolice and CRPF Srinagar in the Guddar forest of Kulgam."

The Indian Army further stated that "vigilant troops observed suspicious activity, and, upon being challenged, terrorists opened fire, prompting a fierce exchange of gunfire during which one terrorist was eliminated and a junior commissioned officer suffered injuries. Operation is in progress". 

Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir, the army and the CRPF are on the site, Kashmir Zonal Police informed.

In another development, the Border Security Force successfully apprehended a Pakistani intruder at the International Border in the RS Pura sector of Jammu on Monday.

Amid the rising tension at the border region, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) also carried out searches at 22 locations across five states and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in connection with a terror conspiracy case. Officials, while addressing the raid, said, “The searches were conducted at eight locations in Bihar, one each in Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu, two in Uttar Pradesh, and nine in Jammu and Kashmir."
