Indian coast guard rescues seven fishermen from sinking boat off Ratnagiri coast

The Indian Coast Guard rescued seven fishermen from a sinking boat in the Arabian Sea, off Ratnagiri coast, on Monday afternoon. Officials confirmed that the fishing boat, Durga Ambika, had raised a distress alert regarding the flooding and sinking of a boat named Mehez in the north west of Ratnagiri, sailing with seven fishermen.

Coast guard sources confirmed that at about 12 pm on March 21, the distress alert was raised about the incident taking place 26 nautical miles (about 45 kms) north west of Ratnagiri. The Coast Guard Dornier aircraft on surveillance monitored the distress call and communicated the same to the Coast Guard, Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Mumbai.
