The Indian Navy’s indigenous guided missile destroyer INS Imphal took part in a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with the US Navy’s guided-missile destroyer USS Gridley (DDG 101) in the Arabian Sea on September 29, 2025, an official statement said.
It said that the two warships carried out a series of joint activities, including tactical manoeuvres, cross-deck flying, and anti-piracy VBSS (Visit, Board, Search and Seizure) training. The crews also shared best practices and operational procedures to improve interoperability between the two navies.
After completing the exercise, both ships continued with their scheduled missions, the statement said.
The Indian Navy stated that such exercises help strengthen maritime cooperation and build stronger ties between the Indian and United States navies, it said.
