Parents of the 18-day-old child, who reside at Malvani in Malad, wake up to his cries in the night and find him with severe injuries
In a gruesome incident on Friday night, an unidentified animal killed an eighteen-day-old infant at Malvani’s gate no 8 in Malad. The child, who suffered severe bites on his skull, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.
Malvani resident Venkatesh Bandalire was sleeping along with his wife and newly-born son at a shanty when the accident took place. Late on Friday night, an animal allegedly entered the hut and tried to drag the child by away by the head.

After the parents woke up to the child’s cries, they rushed him to Bhagwati Hospital. A doctor there said it was difficult to ascertain which animal had bitten the baby by looking at the marks.
“We noticed bite marks all over the child’s head. His mother, however, said there were many stray pigs who roamed around the area and one of them could have bitten her child,” said the doctor. u00a0
