The construction started in 1912 and ended in 1929. Lutyens was a very well-known architect who has designed several momuments in New Delhi. In recognition of his contribution, New Delhi is also known as &#39;Lutyens&#39; Delhi&#39;. Raisina Hill Raisina Hill, the area which houses the Rashtrapati Bhavan, gets its name from Raisina and Malcha villages which were cleared to make way for Rashtrapati bhavan. Kalam&#39;s hut During APJ Abdul Kalam&#39;s tenure, a little hut was built in Rashtrapati Bhavan&#39;s Mughal Gardens, where he used to spend his evenings and mornings. It was demolished later. Filmy connection The song &#39;Des Rangila&#39; from the movie &#39;Fanaa&#39;, starring actor Aamir Khan and Kajol, was shot at Rashtrapati Bhavan including its rehearsal scenes. Mughal Gardens The Mughal Gardens, situated behind Rashtrapati Bhavan, have a variety of flowers. They are open to public in February every year.
